Mead lose 7 goal thriller as Tilbury grab win.
Thamesmead Town 3 - 4 Tilbury FC
The Mead ended thier season with a 7 goal thriller against Tilbury at a very wet Bayliss Avenue. Unfortunately for the Mead they were the odd goal losers on the day which began in great fashion for them, as after only 36 secs, Theo Fairweather-Johnson released Rikki Cable and he cut inside to shoot home. The lead only lasted until the 4th minute, when Tom Wraight sent a low shot past Sam Mott. Alex Read just failed to connect with a low cross for Tilbury before Ashley Probets saw his free kick tipped over by James Marrable in the Tilbury goal. Tilbury went ahead in the 22nd min, when Gary Henty fired home from 18 yards, and the game was end to end with chances for both teams before we reached half time with Tilbury 2-1 ahead. Their lead did not last long into the second half, as in the 49th min, Rikki Cable drifted past three Tilbury defenders before shooting home his second goal via a slight deflection. And the Mead were head 5 mins later, when Rikki Cable's corner drifted straight into the net to put the Mead 3-2 ahead. Rikki with a teriffic hat-trick. But Tilbury hit back again in the 63rd min, as Aaron Matthews picked up a loose ball and fired a shot into the net. Rikki Cable was then denied a fourth goal by a fine save from James Marrable, before in the 79th minute, Tilbury grabbed the crucial winning goal, when Paul King headed a deep corner into the net to the delight of their fans. The Mead were then unlucky to be denied an equaliser in the final minute, when a goal was ruled out incorrectly for offisde, and Danny Penny denied a goal. Final league position is not known at present, due to some games being postponed today, but the Mead can be proud of their efforts this season, best Ryman League placing, and two good cup runs, well done to the players, staff and management, we have a great Gaffa and commitee and hope we can go forward next season, finally best of luck to Tilbury in the play-offs.

Mead lose by odd goal in five at Harlow.
Harlow Town 3 - 2 Thamesmead Town.
The Mead travelled to Harlow for the final away game of the season, and lost in a closely fought game which Harlow edged in the end. Harlow started brightly and went ahead in the 18th minute when Reece Dobson turned the Mead defence and fired a fine shot across Sam Mott and into the net. Rilkki Cable curled a shot just wide as the Mead responded and in the 26th minute, Lewis Tozer's ball forward broke for Theo Fairweather-Johnson to turn the Harlow defender and fire a shot across their keeper to make it 1-1. The game developed into a little bit of a stalemate before in the 38th minute, Harlow won a ball in midfield and released Daniel Elmes who lobbed the ball past Sam Mott to make it 2-1 to Harlow. In the 42nd minute it was 3-1 to Harlow as they broke down the right and the cross was headed home by Elmes for his second goal. The Mead came out trying to make a comeback and saw Rikki Cable hit the post before Theo's cross was handled and the Mead awarded a penalty. Ashley Probets did his usual cool job from the spot and it was back to 3-2 with plenty of time to go. Although the Mead battled, clear chances were hard to find, and David Noel forced the Harlow keeper into a couple of saves, before near
the end, Sam Mott made a great stop to prevent a Harlow fourth. So the Mead lost their
final away game and will look to end on a high next weekend at home to Tilbury.
