Two Richard Dimmock goals early in the game sealed another valuable win against VCD at Bayliss Avenue, to incrase the lead at the top of the table.
Thamesmead, starting spritely, won their first corner of the game on five minutes. Gallagher headed the corner across goal in the six yard box where it fell to Dimmock to power a shot home at the far post.
Only two minutes later, Dimmock doubled the lead. VCD gave the ball away cheaply to Curtis Williams on the right, who was able to play his pass in to James Brown on the edge of the box unmarked to play in Dimmock, who’s first touch took him araound two defenders to place a delicate shot past Mannering in the VCD goal and in to the far corner of the net.
Mead continued to control the game with some neat passing and with Rob Tarrent working well and being left largely unmarked in the middle of the field VCD were fortunate not to concede more goals.
After Lee Coburn tried his chance up front by heading wide, VCD sprang in to life with Greatorex causing Deadman problems on the VCD right wing and eventually producing their first shot on target on 32 minutes.
However on 40 minutes, the prolific James Brown was left unmarked to sprint in to the far post and meet a Deadman corner to power the third goal home with his head.
In to the second half, Killick, who had replaced an injured Gallagher, attempted to penetrate the VCD area but was denied on several occasions. He was bought down on the edge of the area on 52 minutes and the resulting free kick from Dimmock almost saw the big striker gain his hatrick, but his effort sailed just over the bar.
VCD gained a ray of hope on 65 minutes when Spriggs was left to tap in a shot after a quick move down the right caught the Mead defence napping for once. As VCD tried to fight back, they would attempt to get in to the box from crosses from either wing, but were left frustrated as Kemp gathered up crosses time and again.
It was Rikki Cable who killed the game off on 75 minutes by putting the Mead 4-1 ahead. Killick broke in to the VCD half and his pace took him past a defender and to the byline where he pulled the ball back to Dimmock who, despite being tightly marked, managed to float a pinpoint cross to the far side of the area on to Rikki Cables left foot where he managed to pull his shot around a lunging defender and in to the net past Mannering.
From here, it was plain sailing and Mead continued to pressure down the left wing through Deadman and Cable in particular, but in the last couple of minutes, VCD scored against the run of play when Parkinson caught Kemp napping after he failed to gather a cross and slot home.
20 goals in the last four league games sees the Mead extend their lead at the top of the Kent League by five points, even more impressive as two of the victories have come against nearest rivals.
