Ryman One North
Thamesmead Town
Vs
Leiston FC
Saturday 11th February
3.00pm Kick Off
Thamesmead Town are a family club who have a small but dedicated number of supporters, which the club hope will grown in the future. Among them are a small, dedicated group who have become known as the Thamesmead Hardcore.
The Thamesmead Hardcore attend as many Mead matches as possible and have set the following objectives for the benefit of Thamesmead Town Football Club:
• To support the club at matches at all levels.
• To positively raise the profile of the club through the media and publicity activities to the local community.
• To provide assistance with general maintenance of the ground and club fundraising.
• To set up 5-a-side and 11-a-side matches against other Kent League supporters. This is to encourage new supporters to Thamesmead Town and to forge links with other clubs and their supporters, for the benefit of clubs and the Kent League.
Thamesmead and Greenwich Borough fans line up before their charity match for the Childrens Heart Foundation
So far Thamesmead Hardcore have played two 5-a-side matches against Erith & Belvedere (losing both 8-3 and 12-5) and three 11-a-side against Greenwich Borough.
In the last match, Thamesmead supporters lost the the chance to lift a repica World Cup to Greenwich Borough supporters. A disorganised supporters team saw them go 6-0 down at the break, but goals from Kevin White (who was continually reminded that he also missed a pen!) and the McMahon brothers saw them get the better of the 2nd half, but lose 8-3. The game was played in a friendly spirit, and with the replica world cup auctioned off, the day saw £200 raised for Greenwich Boroughs chosen charity, the Childrens Heart Foundation. A good day was had by all and the supporters would like to thank the club, especially Keith, for supporting this day. Cheers for the goal Keith!
