Excellent keeping shuts out Mead
Enfield Town 2 Thamesmead Town 0

Thamesmead could consider themselves unfortunate to suffer a 2-0 defeat away to Enfield Town on Saturday.

Thanks to a man of the match performance by Enfield keeper Rob Blackthorne, who shut Thamesmead out time and again, the home side capitalised on the shut out as Ben hannond struck a powerful shot to provide the lead halfway through the first half.

Enfield added their second after the break when Stuart Blackburne headed the ball goalboud from a shot rebounded off of the cross bar.

Mead remain third in the league and have another tough game on Saturday, at home to fellow play-off hopefuls, Great Wakering Rovers.

Next match at Bayliss Avenue

Andy Constable missed the chance to pull one back when his 75th-minute penalty was saved by Louis Godwin-Green and although Scott Mulholland did find the net three minutes later, Wakering held out for the win.

Ware spot kick defeats dominant Mead/Youth aim for silverware
Ware 1 Thamesmead Town 0
Ware further dented Thamesmead's play off hopes on Saturday, with a win against a tricky Mead side.

After an even start, Ware were handed the opportunity to take the lead in the 12th minute when the Mead conceded a penalty, which was converted by Ware striker Ryan Wade.

Having got to the break still with a one-goal lead, Ware came out for the second half determined to defend their advantage.

There were nerve-jangling times on occasion, but despite Thamesmead's dominance, they were unable to breach the Ware goal.

Mead face Wingate & Finchley at home this coming Saturday.

Meanwhile, the U14 and U15 are aiming for silverware this season. The under 15's are in the League Cup final on Sunday 25th April at Lordswood, KO 2.30pm, while the U15's aim for the Kent County Cup with their final being played on Sunday 28th March at Faversham, KO 2.30pm. Good luck to both teams. Win it for the Mead!

Gate looks closed on play-off hopes
Thamesmead Town 1 Wingate & Finchley 2
Thamesmead's play-off hopes are all but over after a home defeat to Wingate and Finchley.

Wingate striker Leon Smith dented Mead's hopes on 21 minutes by opening the scoring, despite looking to be in an offside position.

Thamesmead managed to get their passing game together and on 41 minutes, debutant Kayan Kalipha struck the ball low and hard from the edge of the Wingate area to equalise.

The second half was evenly contested, however as Mead pushed forward to try and gain the win, Smith popped up again four minutes in to injury time to seal the win and effectively kill off Thamesmead's chances of a playoff spot.

Even if the Mead win their remaining five matches of the season, starting away at East Thurrock next Saturday, they must rely upon the remote possibility of teams above them gaining six points from their remaining six games for a hope of a play off spot.

Mead defeated again
Thamesmead Town 0 Waltham Forest 1

In a match which provided poor football from either side, Waltham Forest inflicted Thamesmead's sixth defeat on the bounce.

After a fine tackle from Mead's Rob Carter, referee Baker awarded a free kick to the opposition to the bemusement of all, cautioning the defender in the process. Spencer Harrison was on hand to head home the resulting free kick.

On 42 minutes Forest's Robert Carter was sent off for an elbow to his Thamesmead namesake.

Despite the advantage and bringing on three forwards with 25 minutes to go, Mead missed opportunites to score time and again with sloppy build up play.

On 87 minutes it looked as if Kayan Kalipha had equalised for the Mead. Despite ghosting in from behind the Forest defence and Rikki Cable who lofted the ball back for him to strike home, the linesman gave him offside to cap off a poor display of officiating and football.

Potters bar Mead from points
Potters Bar Town 1 Thamesmead Town 1
A run of six defeats in a row was ended on Saturday, but it was left late to take a point away from Potters Bar.

In a disappointing start, Jordan Watson opened the scoring on nine minutes for the home side.

It took the Mead time to redress the balance, with Kayan Kalipha striking home on 80 minutes to take the point. With a play off spot out of reach, Mead will look to finish above local rivals VCD Athletic and will need a win on the road this Saturday when facing Harlow.
