Kent Senior Trophy
Lordswood 0 Thamesmead Town 1
Summary from Patrick Williams
Goalscoring midfielder James Brown sent Thamesmead through to the next round of the Kent Senior Trophy to complete a good cup week.
Mead started the game with a new veteran keeper Lawrence Wright. Within a few minutes, Wright made his mark as he pulled off a one handed save from Lordswood's first attack.
Lordswood had the better part of the first half, but could not break Mead down as the defence remained resolute.
Right at the end of the first half James Brown picked up the ball down the left hand side just outside the box. He ran along the line leaving the chasing Lordswood player in his wake then pushed it round the last Lordswood defender. The defender tried to push him off the ball but Brown stood strong and got the ball under control. As the keeper came out, he lifted the ball over him in to the far corner of the goal, a goal deserving to to be the winning goal.
The second half was evenly contested, but Lordswood never really bothered our senior goal keeper, who pulled of another good save halfway through the second half, after a shot from just outside the Mead box need to be turned over the crossbar.
