After the match, Thamesmead supporters lost the world cup to Greenwich Borough supporters. A disorganised supporters team saw them go 6-0 down at the break, but goals from Kevin White (who was continually reminded that he also missed a pen!) and the McMahon brothers saw them get the better of the 2nd half, but lose 8-3. The game was played in a friendly spirit, and with the replica world cup auctioned off, the day saw £200 raised for Greenwich Boroughs chosen charity, the Childrens Heart Foundation. A good day was had by all and the supporters would like to thank the club, especially Keith, for supporting this day. Cheers for the goal Keith! Picture..

We need players of his quality and I'm glad he chose us over Erith & Belevedere." Mead join in town's 40th anniversary celebrations / Friendlies begin
Thamesmead Town will be at the Thamesmead Festival at Birchmere Park tomorrow (Sat 14th) to celebrate the towns 40th anniversary. Tommy the Toad will be there at our "beat the goalie" area from 10am, when the festival kicks off. There will be plenty of activities and bands for all the family. Tommy will then be at our opening pre-season friendly against Tunbridge Angels. Angels manager Tony Dolby will be sending his full 1st team squad to Bayliss Avenue, but Mead manager Keith McMahon is unfazed "Training has continued very well and I have an 18 man squad for Tonbridge." Curtis Williams, Peter Deadman and Barry Stewart are all on holiday, but other 1st teamers and new boys will get their chance, "Rikki Cable and Sam Thomas are in the squad and I'm looking forward to playing new signing Richard Dimmock as well as giving a couple of trailists a chance." Kick off at Bayliss Avenue is at 3PM.

McMahon confident of a good season
With just over a week to go until our first pre-season friendly, 1st team manager Keith McMahon today spoke of the confidnece he has in his squad going in to the 2007/08 season. "I'm very pleased that every player has commited to Thamesmead for the comming season and we have managed to sign Richard Dimmock who is a very strong forward."
As well as maintaining the services of Rikki Cable for the moment, McMahon also has two more big signings up his sleeve. "I can't say too much at the moment, but one of them is a strong centre forward."
Talking about pre-season preparations, McMahon continued, "Pre season training began a couple of weeks ago and that's been going well. There's also been some work at the ground and the pitch is in great condition. We've also got potentially big games at the start of the season. If we beat Egham in the F.A. Cup, Whitstable will be good opponents. I've spoken to my mate Mark Seagars (Whitstable manager) and that's a match that we both believe we can win." The winners of that match would face Carshalton, but bigger opponents don't seem to faze McMahon, "If we can get through to face Carshalton, I won't be worried about the challenge because I believe we have a strong squad of players. In October, we face Epsom & Ewell in the Vase and that doesn't worry me. I also think we'll be in with a shout of promotion, but it won't be easy. I think the battle for the top of the league will be between us, VCD, Erith & Belvedere and Croydon."
The pre-seson programme kicks off on Saturday 14 June at home to Tonbridge Angels, kick off 3PM.

Mead sign striker Dimmock
Keith McMahon today unveiled Richard Dimmock as his first signing of the summer for the Mead. Dimmock signs from Herne Bay, where he bagged 10 goals last season. "He's a great signing for the club," explains Keith, "he adds depth to our quad and gives us more power up front." The news comes on the back of all of Mead's league cup winning squad commiting to the club for next season, with the exception of Rikki Cable who looks to be heading to Dartford.
We can also announce that on Sunday 29th July, Thamesmead will take on East Anglian Cup holders Needham Market at Bayliss Avenue. The kick off is at 12pm and will be followed by a charity match between Thamesmead and Greenwich Borough supporters to raise money for the Childrens Heart Foundation at 3PM.

Thamesmead Town are pleased to announce that they are submitting planning permission to Bexley Council to build a “Mini-Dartford” at our current ground at Bayliss Avenue. "It's very exciting," said Mead manager Ketih McMahon. "What we’re looking at is a Conference South stadium with new facilities which will provide new and improved community and sporting activities for local residents,”
The new facilities, incluiding a 500 seat stand and covered terraces, are developed in association with assistance from Trust Thamesmead, a registered charity working to build a brighter future for the town.
See drawings of the plan and read an exclusive interview by Steve McCartney with Keith McMahon on our Redevelopment page, which will be continually updated with news and photos of the grounds progress. Also read Keith McMahons thoughts on retaining our squad for next year and on new coach Alan Seamons on www.kentishfootball.co.uk.

So, without further ado, the winners are: Players Player of the Year: Rikki cable; Supporters Player of the Year, Pedro Knight; Managers Player of the Year, Rob Tarrent; Most Improved Player, Tyrone Stirling.
