I reckon charging £8 for a pre-season friendly is a bit strong
Match Officials and Match costs still have to be met. Not one person through the gate complained about the cost last night.
Yeah but surely the idea of pre-season matches are to encourage new people to come down and get a taste - have costs gone up that much since last season?

Totally agree, there are quite a few of us Dartford fans not going to the friendly with you specifically because of the price your charging.
there we go tommys spawn - now people from other clubs won't be coming in - if everyone took that view point then how would the club meet the cost then?
I was thinking of bringing my boy along, but I'm not going to bother if I have to pay £13 a time. Why charge so much when you won't see a full strength team and wathcing what amounts to training?
There we go, Dave has said that he would have broghut his boy but for the costs. And why should you pay the full amount to get in to see loads of subs coming on and not much flowing football?
I reckon the gate price should come down for these friendlies.
Jay if you were there last night you would have seen an excellent game of football, with both sides fielding there strongest sides and not that many subs, It was well worth the entrance money.
That's a great point Keith but the money was part of the reason I wasnt and it makes me wonder who else didnt see the game because of that fact
Jay I understand but we had around 100 there. Costs are more expensive this year the refs alone are a minimum of £150 a home game. If you went to the pictures or the out on the town it would cost you more. Come down to the mead and be entertained. The football we played alone last night was worth every penny
Again I agree Ketih but then pre-season games are so hit and miss that u could fork out and see a terrible game - trust me - i've see a few over the years. The point im trying to make is that for pre-season games the cost should be lower because it will encourage people to come down that are curious about the club. They wont come down if they think it's too much dough to get in.
Again Jay i understand, but if you went to a premier game with a kid, it would cost you say £40 quid for the tickets, burgar, drink. Not close to the action, can't park. all for around £60+ come to the Mead, can have a pint before the game, right close to the action can voice your opinion, have something to eat all for £20. good value.
fair enough keith and during the season i will be doing that BUT for pre seasons i just find it hard to swallow
Dartford reserves playing at home saturday, a lot of fans are going to watch them rather than pay £8 for your friendly.
Hi all,
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to TTFC yesterday and many congratulations on the win, very deserved.
we were at times awful.
I have to agree with you about the £8 cost for yesterdays game. Possibly. a tad steep
We were being charged £10 for some of our home pre-season games which is the same as a league game. There was a bit of a mini DFC forum rebellon and the prices for the next 2 home friendlies were dropped to £7. Again, like one of your posters we argued about using friendly games to draw in new support and to encourage this with much reduced entry fees.
To be honest, most of the away games I've been to pre-season were all about £5, so to be honest £8 was a bit higher than I was expecting. Also, this may have been one of the reasons why a lot of our main support stayed away. Had you charged a couple of quid less there is a good chance that you might have pulled in a another 40 or so. I know you would have lost money on the gate but probably would have made up for it at the bar, raffle etc.
Apart from that and the weather, I think you'll do OK in the RLN and I wish you the best of luck for the coming season.
Custard AKA Steve
I think Custard's reply proves jay's point doesn't it
Hi everyone I hope per season went well and i hope to see you all this season!
as for the prices for the games maybe it's been a bit to steep, but let face it the mead are in the RLN for the first time and player brought in and the players that have stayed .we need to raise the funds to pay the increased wage bill to keep these players at the club. maybe after and hopefully we stay up this year you maybe find that the pre season price will go down,
But we have got to remember now!! we are a small fish in a big pond and we have to make the money when we can to help maintain keeping this team together!
for the people who watch us last year it's not only the first time that Keith want to keep but he has to sign on most of his youth team players who lets face it are the future of TTFC and have showed it in there last two kent youth year, Most of them have made a first time apperance.
I know a lot of you will disagree and say put your prices down and you might get a few more fan which is a fair point, but lets face it if we can build a good team at the start of the season and like the film field of dreams (if you build it they will come)
Anyway come on the Mead and remember tommy loves ya!!!
