Another end to end game saw the under 18s keep alive the chances of a unique treble, when they beat a gallant Tonbridge Angels side last night at Bayliss Avenue by 2-1. Without the services of the Wright twins, top scorer Danso and second top scorer Corbin, this was a tough match for our youngsters, but once again they showed there fighting spirit . It was a even first half but Mead got themselves in front after 20 minutes, Tonbrige failing to clear there lines only to see Femi Omugbehim plant a accurate lob over the Angels keeper and into the back of the net. Both sides continued to play some neat football on a fine playing surface but the score remained 1-0 to Mead at the break. The second half was again a close affair and it was no surprise that after a few close chances , Tonbridge levelled with 20 minutes left, a fine turn and strike by a Angels forward left Woodward with no chance. To there credit our lads did not panic and created plenty of chances of our own. With time ticking down and with our title ambitions again in danger, it was left to Danny Willis to fire home a superb left footed strike from fifteen yards, to give us a tense victory. With five games remaining we now travel over to the home of Sevenoaks Town(Greatness Park) on Sunday, 11AM, before playing them again on Tuesday evening in the reverse fixture at Bayliss Avenue.............KICK OFF 7.45.
