Well another week has drfited past and this was the first midweek that the Mead have not played maybe since the start of the season in August, so hopefuly the players have enjoyed a rest although training last night seem's to have had a World Cup theme from a pciture posted on Facebook, why could'nt Scotland win the World Cup???
The Mead made it through another to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy last weekend when they repeated the 2-0 league victory over Enfield Town. Lea Dawson seems to be on a good goal scoring run at the moment as goals this season have come from different areas of the team which takes some pressure off strikers and helps the cause. David Noel charged down a clearance, not for the first time this season, to score the second. Thanks to Mark Gray for the report, and it seems it was the tough game expected. and the Mead put in another good defensive performance which has been a strong area this season and gives you a good base to build on. So just over £2k was gained which takes the prize money we have gathered from both the FA Cup and FA Trophy to a tidy sum this season which is of massive benefit to the club. In the next round of the FA Trophy we had been given another home tie against Arseley Town, who are a Strp 3 club, so one step above us, but in having a look at their performances this season, yes it will be a tough game but I am sure we can give it a good go with home advantage.
This Satruday (tomorrow), the Mead travel across the River Thames to meet Gray's Athletic who played at East Thurrock's ground these days. They are going well and went back to the top of the Ryman League One North on Wednesday evening with a 1-0 win over Leiston, I think via a penalty, and I know the Gaffa was over there to have a look at them, and hopefully has a battle plan for the game. I don't feel, based on how we have performed over the last couple of months, that we should not feel confident about getting something from any game. So I hope to get over to this game as getting withdrawal symptons from not seeing a Mead game for over 2 weeks I think, due to various reasons.
Website work this site has been keeping Reserves (who are going well this season) and Youth pages updated which I feel is going well, and last night I stuck something on the front page about the Under 12's race night, which I hope will be well supported.
Media exposure is something I nedd to work on for the club, but recently concenttrating the mind on some things has been hard.
Up the Mead :-)
