Well another week has zoomed past, and some of my colleagues are on strike today over changes to our pensions which I agree are not being done fairly, however the issue I have is that only 35% of the Union can be bothered to vote in any ballot, and I don't think this gives the leadership, who are a pian, a mandate for action. My view is that a mimimum of 50% of the Union Membership should need to vote for a binding outcome. Their you go, opening lines to the blog and no mention of football!!!!!
Was over at the Mead again on Monday night helping out with some jobs, outlined in reply to last week's blog, and also this week have I think cracked updating the website, as the Gaffa arranged another friendly which I posted yesterday and then decided to update the list of pre-season friendlies. Someone else has been in and added a Maidstone badge as I could not to do that, so we are updating the website by proxy it now seems, but our aim is to keep it an up to date as possible with news relevant to the club.
The Mead begin their pre-season training this weekend and will have a few training sessions before their opening friendly on the 19th July. Got a good mix of challenging games now which will give the Gaffa the chance to say how player's are developing, and no doubt the chance to look at some potential signings. In my personal hotmail account last night I got the bi-monthly newsletter from Trust Thamesmead, which I ended up reading at 430am this morning when I woke up. Sporting Club Thamesmead was mentioned and they have appointed someone to oversee it from their end, the gentlemen's name escapes me, they are also building The Link over in the arches the other side of the doughnut as I call it. So hopefully we are heading towards a successful resolution with the new facilities and a fully re-vamped Bayliss Avenue.
I managed to fix my bike at the weekend too, and re-potted my sunflowers so I have been out cycling with my daughter and last night we cycled over to the Mead and back for exercise, hopefully it will help us both get fitter and lose some weight.
Enough of my rambling as I better tackle some work.
Up the Mead :-)
