Well I think I have reached Issue 6 of the weekly blog, and another week has slipped by in the off-season. The big news this week is that some readers of the forum, whoever you may be, may have noticed that the Gaffa asked me if I was interested in getting more involved with the webiste and programme. I said I was, and I met Keith and Albert on Monday night over at the club, and we had a constructive discussion about the press officer role which is free at the moment due to Robert (many thanks to him for last season) having moved to a job involving shifts. Albert is going to help me with the programme and we are going to look into that more in the coming weeks. Kevin, the previous press officer has been helping me try to get the hang of this webiste but it will take a little time for me. I think tonight I have managed to align the front page articles and was playing around with my test page which hopefully no one can see!!!!! On the press side, I need to try and see what is involved and get the hang of supporting the Mead in this capacity. So a notebook will be needed for home games in the future and I want to try and cover as many Mead games as I can in the coming season.
News on my sources, Facebook, Twitter and some websites has been slow this week, I posted on another thread that Avely had been reprieved from relegation so they have to be replaced in Division One North for 11/12. on another forum site someone was suggesting another team from Suffolk area, so that would be another long away journey. The Gaffa is still actively working to get players in, and the signings so far show his ambition, pre-season training followed by a good series of matches is a few weeks away yet. Keith also tweeted that a friendly with Dartford has been arranged, but not sure of time and place. Some of the players are on twitter too, and I have several curent and now ex-players on facebook.
This will be a challenge but I llok forward to it and I am delighted to be helping the Mead more. Work is progressing at Bayliss Avenue, and I am going over there on Monday night to help the other willing volunteers. The camaraderie of the club is a credit to them.
Up the Mead :-)
