The Weekly Blog - Issue One!!!!!!

No update on the main page of the website, but some news in the 1st issue of an attempt to post weekly during the summer break, mind you weather has been summer like already. Saw yesterday, that Wingate & Finchley edged out Brentwood 3-2 AET to win the play-off final and disappear into the Ryman Premier next season, and that Tonbridge Angels beat Lowestoft to join the Ryman Premier, so they go forth with East Thurrck and the Met Police. Who will be joining us in the Ryman North Division next year I have no idea as yet but I will keep a look out for that and maybe someone else will know. I went on Friday night and watch Hugo's Academy U14's play Charlton's U14's for about 35 mins at Sparrows Lane with the wife (yes wife) and it was 2-2 when we left with both team looking to have potential.

I think the Mead were having their end of season presentation night at the weekend, so I hope that went well, for me in a short statement of views, my awards would go to:

Player of the Season: Sam Mott

Young Player: Alfie Munday

Performance of the Season: That 2-0 away win at East Thurrock

Goal of the Season: Tough one and still thinking about it, I might look back at games I went to and see what I come up with.

Looks like Man United have all but wrapped up the Premier League after yestersdays win over Chelsea, and the FA Cup Final is up this weekend, when I fancy Stoke could surprise Man City. As for the other teams I still follow, Charlton had a disastrous season really, Ebbsfleet are in the Blue Square South Play-Off Final next Sunday away at Farnborough, and my home town team Hamilton are battling to stay in the SPL, only 3 points behind St Mirren now with 2 games left and a crunch night tomorrow evening.

Hope everyone is well who is associated with the Mead and good to have a bunch of you as friends on Facebook.

Up the Mead :-)

Re: The Weekly Blog - Issue One!!!!!!

Well I found out last night that Sam Mott swept the board at the presentation evening, which was not a surpirse, Gabs won the golden boot as he edged ahead of AC at the end of the season by bagging a couple of goals, information from a source on Facebook, lol :-)

As for my goal of the season, I have given some thought and I think it would go to Andy Constable for his 2nd goal against Welling United in the London Senior Cup, where he challenged for a high ball and then hit a cracking half volley over the keeper from 25 yards. Also thinking about the best performance of the season, I stated the 2-0 win at East Thurrock as my frst choice, burt is thinking agian the comeback to draw 3-3 with Maldon & Tiptree at home while playing with 10 men for most of the game deserves a mention.

Up the Mead :-)
