The title of one of the Eagles great songs seems appropriate after I made a trip to Deepest North Essex tonight. The Mead in the change strip of all yellow started the game well and had a couple of great chances to got in front, but found the Heybridge goalkeeper a formidable barrrier which he proved to be all night. About 25 mins in and with their first real attack, Heybridge got round the back of the Mead defence and the square ball was knocked home. Less than 2 minutes later, their No. 9 got the better of the skipper and fired a shot past Sam Mott to make it 2-0 and myself and Scot's Dad were wondering what had happened. The Mead huffed and puffed and a few meaty challenges went in, but at half time it was 2-0 to Heybridge. The next goal was always going to be crucual and it eventualy came about 20 mins into the second half again for Heybridge. The Mead then had a few chances to score, and a couple of one on ones but it was one of those nights when I think the game could have gone on to midnight, and the Mead would not have found the net. The post was rattled a few times amd Heybridge got a fourth goal near the end. All in all not an enjoyable trip, but happy to support the team, we need to get back to winning ways at home on Saturday.
Up the Mead, cheers :-)
