Are the Mead the only team South of the River in the New Structure?

Thought I would try and keep the forum going through the summer, so having looked on the Ryman League site today following seeing a facebook posting by 'The Gaffer' I see that VCD Athletic, the Mead's local rivals in Division One North have been demoted back to the Kent League due to their ground not meeting requirements. And from the list of teams published to be in Division One North for next season I think the Mead are left as the only team south of the river (I might be wrong) so it leaves the club with longer journies next season as two clubs North of most of the rest have come in. I also see from the front page that the Mead have a new coach which is good to see, I assume Keith is working hard to get a squad together for 2010/11 and hopefully the core of the squad will be retained and what to stay.

Not long to the World Cup and contrary to popular belief, I would like to see England do well even though I am Scottish, it is the media I can't stand. Was happy to see the cricketeers win the Word Twenty20 yesterday, so see I am not anti-english, lol. Also a belated well done on here to Kevin, the former press officer, for completing the London Marathon in a good time. I did say that on facebook, where I have a few of the players and 'the Gaffer' as friends, it is good to keep in touch.

Cheers :-)

Re: Are the Mead the only team South of the River in the New Structure?

Cheers Colin,

Still very much Press Officer at the moment, but will hopefully be handing over to someone new soon.

Yup, we are he only team south of the river in Ryman North next season. I'm glad we're still in the North as we know the teams well after two season in the division and our position from this season bodes well for next.

The only drawback of not being in the South is that we'd get higer gates as most clubs in the South have bigger attendances. Saing that, a couple of clubs that have come in to the North for 2010/11 have good support, so hopefully they'll bring numbers (and money!) when they visit the Mead.

Shame we won't face VCD next season....
