Well due to being busy in December and then the weather, this was the first Mead game had a got too for a little while. What can I say, it was a battle and a very physical encounter, and having just read Keith's notes, although the Mead were showing charity in memory of a Heybridge player, there was no of that on the pitch from them. The first half was turning into a midfield battle untlil it all went mad, and we had th melee right in front of me and Kevin. It all came out of nothing and ended with one of the Heybridge players getting sent off, he was not very pleased. The more perplexing part of the melee was how the Heybridge sub who sprinted 30 years to get involved on the pitch, get only a booking!!!! Anyway, a scrappy goal for them came straight after and the Mead did dominate towards the end of the half. I felt if the Mead kept calm then the goals would come. It took a while but eventually it did happen thankfully, a great drive by Marcus Perona to equliaed then a great free kick from Scot M which deserved a goal, but AC was in to nod home. The ending last a bitter taste in the mouth as the Heybridge No.3 play acted then taunted Rikki Cable, which led to them both getting sent off. It was not very sportmanlike play from several of the Heybridge players at times, but all credit to the Mead for battling and getting another three points. THe back three were sold as usual, the midfield battled and won the down, and the front two keep going. It was a team effort and I hope the Mead can keep it going. :-)
