Defensive solidity leads to good home win!!!!!!

It was a cold and windy afternoon today, and even this Scotsman felt the chill, but the Mead put together a solid performance to beat Northwood 2-0 and get back to winning ways. Now was standing next to Kevin and his match report it about right, the first half was not that great with not alot of goal mouth action. We were saying at half time that quite a few teams in this league seem quite closely matched and that it might take a mistake to create a goal. This proved to be true within 2 minutes of the 2nd half when a defensive blunder by Northwood gifted the Mead the lead. The Mead's defence then held firm and were excellent all afternoon, special mention to the three central defenders, Baker, Tozer and Campbell who were strong and brave. The 2nd Mead goal was a classic. There we were standing beside the goal and saying to Northy to kick it towards Peter Moore who was in loads of space. Ping and on ran Moore to slot home the killer second goal. Another good 3 points collected and good to see the team get back to winning ways. Also, I did not know about Keith's son not being well, so I hope all is ok now. Cheers :-)

Re: Defensive solidity leads to good home win!!!!!!

I think that saturdays performance playing for eachother getting behing the ball as a unit and standing on our feet as an army lol was the teams way of going into december on a high and apologising for our november performances. As we have massive games ahead I know we can win them all. Its quite hard to explain why we had a poor november where we should have won them all but thats football. Now that we manage to end the run finally picking up 3 points it was very important to go into december with a win and to have the belief and confidence that we can win these very important games ahead and be contenders to win the league and definately be in up there in play offs. Just like to say well done to my team and bring it on.
