Now, let me start by saying that up until this season I was a season ticket holder at Charlton and had only been to see the Mead on a few occassions. But now I feel more committed to the local team and would rather spend my hard earned money in coming along to Bayliss Avenue when i can. I have always tried to support local team, I grew up in Hamilton and my Uncle started taking me to see 'The accies' when I was six. When I left Scotland to come and work in London, I lived near Watford for a couple of years and went there, then I met wife no.1 (the bitch as I call her) and moved to Gravesend. I started going to watch them in 1997 and saw them climb up, and I did buy into the Myfootball club experiment which to me is now close to falling apart. Being at Wembley to watch Ebbsfleet win the FA Trophy was probably the best day for me as a supporter so far. Ok then wife no. 2 (the good one) got me a ticket for Charlton a few years ago and I got into watching them. However this season I was not impressed that they did not reduce the cost of my season ticket and took the decision to not renew and thought then I would try and support Thamesmead more. I know there are people behind the Mead who work tirelessly for them and the Gaffer has done a tremendous job. It would be great to get more people coming along to support the team, and maybe an initial aim could be to target 100 for each home game. Now I have seen this season that some teams bring some support more than others which is the same at all levels, and I know from the times I have attended this season you notice the same faces turning up. I agree that the re-development of the ground should help and make a visit to Bayliss Avenue even better. The work the club are doing in schools could also be used to try and increase crowds, why not invite some schools along to some home games, ok it might mean letting them in for free initially, but it would generate a better atmosphere and might also get some new fans on board if the kids can get their parent(s) to come. I don't have alot of disposable income spare, but if I could help the club in any other way, I would be more than happy to do.
